1715 Jacobite Rising.

7th November 1715 Thomas Forster, Earl of Derwentwater arrives with the Jacobites at Lancaster.  James III declared king at the town cross.

9th November 1715 – Jacobites arrive in Preston. Catholics rather than Protestants came to join them at both places.

12 November 1715 Jacobite Scouts bring news of General Wills approaching from the south.  Jacobites dig in at Preston. Forster surrendered when the town was surrounded even though only 17 Jacobites had been killed as compared to 200 Hanoverians.

14 November 1714 Preston Jacobites surrender.  Battle of Sheriffmuir.
