A Roman perfume bottle?
I love it when you guess – always so good -needs to be a later period, larger item as well.
Looks like a carafe but that’s too easy!
Wine is not involved – but it is the right shape. And like you say it would be too easy…unless I was going for a double bluff – which on this occasion I’m not.
Not sure of the size, but if its small I’d agree with the perfume bottle. Larger, wine.
Probably go with size somewhere between the two items – once upon a time everyone in Western Europe would have known what this was and why you’d need it. Just goes to show how the world moves on.
